How long is the season? The season runs from March through June, with an end of the season tournament.
When do practices begin? Practices will begin the Monday after Daylight Savings. Depending on the availability of our coaching staff. Coaches will contact and coordinate their season details with their team shortly before or after.
Where are games typically located and when? Our home games are typically hosted at the BHS Softball field near the Boys and Girls Club in East Bremerton and the small field adjacent to that; as well as the North Perry Baseball fields (Ostrander and Chris Gordon). Away game field locations may vary from club to club, but the areas involved will be Silverdale, Port Orchard, and Belfair. Games typically take place on weekdays with the exception of possible make-up games being held on weekends.
What equipment do we need to provide for our child? Below the knee black softball/baseball pants, forest green socks, forest green belt (optional), rubber molded cleats, a batting helmet with face shield and a baseball/softball mitt. Although we typically find that players tend to provide their own softball bats, we also provide at least 1-2 bats in our team equipment bags for those who do not. Fielding face masks are highly recommended, although not required by rule; however, we tend to leave this at our coaches discretion. Jerseys will be provided by the club for players to keep and are factored into your registration fees.
How will our team primarily communicate? Our club utilizes the “GameChanger” app for mobile, as this is the primary service tied to our registration system and is free to download and use for Apple and Android mobile devices. All communication, practices, and game logistics will be made available in the app. Once registration has closed and players have been assigned to their teams, coaches will then contact and coordinate with families.
Where can I go to follow the team’s season? Once made available the season’s game schedule will be loaded into your teams GameChanger app and made available on the KPYFC website.
My daughter plays for a select travel ball team, how does that affect placement? KPYFC Bylaw - Right to Classify: The KPYFC reserves the right to classify the division of play for any team and/or individuals seeking to play within this league. Classification shall be based on overall defensive and offensive strength and overall experience of the team, players, and coaches. National affiliation/authority standards for team classification shall be used.
Select players: If you have been rostered with a select team within the last 24 months you will have to plead your case to the KPYFC board to be considered eligible to play rec ball this season. Every select player will be brought in front of the KPYFC board for classification. Players will need to present stats and possibly physically try out for the board. If a player is approved through the classification process to play they will need to play up an age level and they will not be able to play their starting position on select in any rec game. They will typically
not be allowed to play in pitching or catching positions. Players can and will be re-evaluated throughout the season at the discretion of the KPYFC board. Each team will be capped on the amount of select players on each team. 12U teams will be allowed up to 3 select players. 14U teams will be allowed up to 4 select players. 10U select players will need to play at the 12U level and 12U select players will need to play at the 14U level. 14U select players are not eligible to play rec ball unless they go through the classification process with the board and are classified appropriately and approved to play.
School teams do not count as “select/travel” teams.
